Saturday December 8th is a special day
in St. Lucia’s tourism development history with the Official Opening of
The Landings St. Lucia
.

In the late 1960’s the Government of St. Lucia approved the building of the Pigeon Island Causeway to make Rodney Bay a protected harbour, to create land for tourism development and to create new public beachfront park land for St. Lucians.

The protected harbour and two designated public parks were completed in the early 1970’s. However most of the land intended for tourism development lay idle until the Landings bought it in 2004 and launched its marketing and construction in 2005.

Comprising a yacht basin with sheltered moorings and 228 freehold luxury residential properties of varying sizes, The Landings consists of a 19-acre site with 730 feet of frontage on a golden sandy beach on Rodney Bay. The development has been designed and built to the highest of world class resort standards. The Landings’ amenities will include yacht mooring and slips, beach club, water sports, sunset lounge located on the pier, gourmet restaurant, fitness club, luxury spa and salon, concierge services, swimming pools, tennis court and resort reception area. Owners at The Landings also have a membership at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club which is a 5 minute drive from the resort.

Since its Launch in January 2005 The Landings has already won two highly coveted Bentley International Property awards for ‘Best Marina Development Worldwide’ and ‘Best Caribbean Development.’

In addition to these two “Bests,” The Landings is the island’s first freehold luxury waterfront residential development, its first private yacht harbor, and rivals the best tourism product Barbados has to offer at a fraction of the price.

Today’s ceremony celebrates the turning over of The Landings’ first completed residences to their owners. Over the last few months a number of owners have visited their new homes. Delighted with the progression of the development so far, homeowner John Robertson said: “With a number of units now nearly complete it is evident that The Landings will (indeed) be the best marina development in the world and best development in the East Caribbean.” Such is the impression made by the St. Lucian retreat that three of the visiting purchasers invested in second properties at the development.

The best part of The Landings’ success story is not just that its sales are out-pacing all other developments on the island, or that its first phase of four is complete and phase two is on schedule, but that the project is the proud product of St. Lucian skill, dedication and quality workmanship. With upwards of 400 workers during construction and 750 anticipated during full operation, The Landings is a special St. Lucian story to celebrate.

To match its success and excellence The Landings has appointed Rock Resorts, the luxury brand of Vail Resorts Hospitality, to operate and manage the resort. Created by Laurance S. Rockefeller in 1956 and acquired and re-launched by Vail Resorts in 2001, RockResorts has a long tradition of managing world-class accommodations in spectacular locations throughout the U.S. and Caribbean.
